Collaboration with Whizarts

I'm proud to announce that Danny Chew Photography is in collaboration with Whizarts. I'll be shooting as a senior photographer for Whizarts, hence for all you folks who've dropped me queries, don't be surprise to get a response from my friends at Whizarts.

You may be asking, Why? Well, Ke Wynn from approached me with this proposal a couple weeks back and after some soul searching and much deliberation I've found this to be the right choice for me to grow at this juncture. Plus Ke Wynn is such a great person, his generosity and trust in me is just humbling.

So keep an eye on this space for more great images!

ShootFest001

Images courtesy of Mark Leo.

This is a delayed post. Alright a very delayed post :) I had the opportunity to participate and speak at the inaugural ShootFest001. The first un-conference that I've every attended. I had loads of fun talking and literally laughing my head off with all the participants! These folks are soooo funny. At the same time I learned so much from speakers such as Kee Sitt, Dennis Thean, Kris Wong, Alex Lam, Jon Low, Zach Chin and Jenny Sun. Not only about photography but most importantly about marketing and branding. On how to reach the correct market and make sure you give first class service all the time. Guys, thanks so much for sharing!

I talk was on how to do a Wedding Fashion Shoot with 2 Speedlights. I hope everyone was able to bring away something from my talk.

That's me speaking. Thanks to Mark for the image :)
EeYern was gracious enough to be my shy model :)

Finally a crazy booth photo of me and Zach Chin goofing off. Scissors... I'm going to get nightmares from them!

Well, ShootFest001 farewell. I'm looking forward to ShootFest002 :)

Meeting with wedding photography giants

Last Sunday evening I had the greatest pleasure hanging out with 30+ photographers at La Bodega. Louis Pang was generous enough to share his experience about WPPI such as what is it about and what it's not, how can photographers benefit from it and about the WPPI conference held every year in Las Vegas. After hearing his sharing I'm even more motivated to attend the WPPI conference. I'm setting a personal goal to be able to attend the conference in 2011. It'll give me enough time to prepare myself both financially and mentally to absorb the tonnes of knowledge and experience that I will get there. I'm also motivated to join the WPPI print competition where Louis shared a few tips on how to submit an entry. It is heartening to see a successful Asian photographer like Louis winning awards and gaining recognition. It's given me more driving force and confidence that anyone with enough passion, lots of hardwork and endurance is able to make it as well.

I was also pleasantly surprise and excited to see the likes of Zung, Patrick Low and Jenny Sun at Louis' sharing. It's was great chatting with them as I just love their work and follow their blogs closely. They were such warm and friendly folks that you would guess they are very successful high-end photographers.

At the end of the night the most important take away that I got isn't just Louis' great sharing or meeting the Signature Photographers, but feeling the energy and passion of a group 30 odd folks so keen on photography that you just feel drunken with enthusiasm and camaraderie. I'm now really looking forward to the ShootFest Unconference where I'm going to meet another large group of enthusiast that's just going to re-energize me!

Here's a quick grab shot of Louis, Zung and Patrick chatting away.

Mei Foon & Kam Wai

Mei Foon is a long time friend of Hooi Chai and me during our university days. She and Hooi Chai were housemates for a year and she would often beseech Hooi Chai not to let me wait out in the hot noon day sun for too long waiting for her to get ready! Well, today I had the privilege to return Mei Foon's kind favours and photograph her wedding ceremony. It was a simple affair with close family members, which gave us ample time to shoot some relax portraits. Please enjoy my favourites below :)

Pregnancy Portraits

We spent the evening shooting a few nice pregnancy portraits for my sister-in-law Hooi Yah together with her husband Kang. Here are a few of my favourites.
